Earthquake at Robertstown
8th February 2018 at 00:36am
At 00:36am on Thursday, 8th February 2018 an Earthquake was recorded and felt at Robertstown with a magnitude of 2.0 and a depth of 10 Kilometres.
Mr Adrian Menzel, (Webmaster) who lives 4 Kilometres North of Robertstown on the Worlds End Highway was working in his office updating the Robertstown Website at the time said “I heard this noise in the distance which sounded like one and very shortly after that his wife Val, who was lying in bed came in and asked me if I heard a noise”.
He said “yes and then I rang FiveAA and spoke to Peter Godfrey and I asked him if it was felt in Adelaide and Peter said that he has not heard of any reports”. He also told Peter “Seeing that I heard it I will be reporting it on the Earthquakes Website and to see if it has been recorded”.
Adrian then went onto the Geoscience Australia Earthquakes website and reported it and it was showing that it happened on there.
The report can be viewed on their website: Geoscience Australia Earthquakes
He went on to say “Not long after I had rang FiveAA, Peter announced on air for any listeners to ring him if they had heard and/or felt it and he also had looked at the website and could see that it was recorded and it also showed that it was reported which was most probably Adrian’s report that he lodged”.
Whilst he was looking at the website he noticed that there had been others before and since in South Australia.
